The Mobile Newsroom: Equipped for the Field

Field production in the British Columbia Interior requires a high level of self-sufficiency. You cannot always rely on finding a local rental house if a piece of gear fails or if the requirements of a story change mid-assignment. This is why I have meticulously outfitted my production van to serve as a fully functional mobile newsroom. I carry everything needed to handle a national-grade assignment from start to finish, ensuring that I arrive on every scene fully prepared for the specific technical challenges of the day.

My broadcast kit is built around Broadcast ENG standards to ensure every frame meets the visual requirements of a network newsroom. I travel with a broadcast-ready camera, a full audio suite featuring wireless and handheld microphones, and an extensive lighting array for both indoor and outdoor scenes. I also utilize a sub- 250g ‘micro-drone’ to provide aerials when appropriate, and in full compliant with local and Provincial laws. This equipment allows me to maintain a professional standard in any environment, from a quiet indoor interview in someone’s home, to live hit on a flooded street.

Reliability is the foundation of my workflow. Beyond the cameras and lights, my van is equipped with a mobile workstation for immediate media management and file transfers. I can back up footage on-site and start feeding high-resolution assets to your ingest desk without ever leaving the story location. When you hire Distill Media, you are getting a seasoned professional with the professional tools required to deliver broadcast excellence from any corner of the province.
